Kyle Okposo is an alternate captain and a leader both on and off the ice for the New York Islanders. Despite a late season injury he finished the 2014 NHL season in the top 20 in scoring. In 2013, he made his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut, co-leading the team in goals during the Islanders Eastern Conference Quarterfinals series against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

He was drafted 7th overall in the 2006 NHL Draft following a stellar USHL season where he was named MVP at the conclusion of the USHL playoffs and the league's top rookie as the Des Moines Buccaneers won the Clark Cup. He has represented the United States at three World Championships (2012 - Finland and Sweden; 2010 - Germany; 2009 - Switzerland).

Kyle was born and raised in Minnesota. He launched his KO21 apparel line in 2014.
